Yes, you read right, Bungie's announcement was cancelled by their Publishers... Who are Bungie's Publishers? None other than Microsoft. It raises a bunch of questions, one being; why Microsoft would do so?

Update: Well, over the mast 12 hours, there have been a few changes. In an interview by an MTV Multiplayer with Don Mattrick, he indeed confirmed that Bungie is infact working on a new Halo title. Whether this is related to the planned release for this morning, is still unknown. Also, 07:07:07AM PDT (The planned reveal time as of 12:01PM PDT yesterday) has since passed, with no changes to bungie.net, or xbox.com. Stay true Bungie fans, the day will soon be upon us...
Update 2: Bungie has now officially commented on the matter here.

Subject: E3 Announce

For the last several months, we've been building toward a reveal of something exciting that Bungie is working on. We were looking forward to sharing that with our fan community during the week of E3. However, those plans were just changed by our publisher.

We realize that many of our fans are disappointed by this turn of events; members of the Bungie team share that disappointment.

When the right time comes, we look forward to sharing this exciting announcement with you. Until then, we appreciate your continued support and patience.

E3 Damngamer STAMP OF APPROVAL

I think this has something to

I think this has something to do with the new Xbox experience. It's a pretty big announcement, and Microsoft wouldn't want something like a new Bungie game stealing the spotlight. What does everyone else think?

Bungie Announcement

Could it be a bluff? The Bungie team and Microsoft have probably been conversing about this announcement for weeks, it would be very strange to pull the plug at the last minute. I'm not saying I would put it past Microsoft to do this, but maybe they're just pulling our legs. Build the excitement - destroy it - then when it does come, it will be that much sweeter.

Although bungie has become very popular for bluffing, and teasing us about things, I'm pretty sure that this isn't a bluff. I just updated the story with a link going to the official comment made by bungie on the fully restored homepage, if you'd like to check it out...
